Yes, I know there are ready made pie crusts just sitting at the store in the frozen food section waiting for me to buy them. But I can make them cheaper and better tasting than store bought, plus it is easy to make.
Necessary Ingredients:
2 cups unbleached all purpose flour
¼ teaspoon salt
2/3 cup shortening
2 teaspoons apple cider vinegar
1 egg
3 ½ tablespoons cold water
Cooking Instructions:
In a mixing bowl mix the flour and salt. Add the shortening and use a fork to blend in the mixture.
In another bowl mix the vinegar, egg and water until well blended.
Pour the liquid mixture into the flour mixture and stir until blended.
Form dough into a ball. Divide the dough into two smaller balls.
Lightly flour the rolling surface and roll the dough ball out to 1/8 inch thick with a diameter of about 1 inch larger than the pie pan.
Transfer the dough to the pie pan. Crimp the rim of the dough along the edge of the pie pan. This recipe make 2 pie crusts.
